Iranian embassy defends female citizen in case
The Embassy of Iran has sought to defend the reputation of a young Iranian woman whose name appeared in the press in relation to recent bomb blasts in Bangkok.
Fatemeh Ghaheri, 21, was wrongly identified in the report as a suspect in the explosions after police spoke to her. To date, authorities have issued arrest warrants for five other Iranians for their alleged involvement in the blasts.
Ghaheri called on the embassy for help saying she "wishes to restore her reputation, innocence and dignity, as well as receive protection".
The woman has been in Bangkok studying at the Australian Language Express since March 21, 2011.
